The sole purpose of the new firm was to support fence installation firms and security companies on projects requiring automatic gate operators and access control equipment. These dealers were being asked by their customers to supply and install access control equipment. Many were not in a position to expand their current business by adding personnel, equipment and the ongoing training of sales and support staff that is required in this ever changing segment of the industry. C-Gate became what can best be described as an "installing distributor."
