AAUP strongly believes in faculty governance and is committed to a strong faculty senate. A strong AAUP chapter can empower a faculty senate by developing an organized constituency. The local chapter can enhance faculty senate resolutions by organizing a unified constituency behind them. We are committed to high professional standards and faculty interests so that the ultimate University mission of educating students is facilitated through the creation of a campus environment in which students and teachers learn together as members of what Paul Goodman called "a community of scholars." Strong faculty governance will ultimately enhance the delivery of our services to our ultimate consumer -- the student. That's the bottom line.
